Denton A. Cooley, MD, president emeritus, founded the Texas Heart Institute in 1962. He is chief, Cardiovascular Surgery at CHI St. Luke’s Health – Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, surgeon-in-chief emeritus at the Texas Heart Institute, consultant in Cardiovascular Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital and a clinical professor of Surgery at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Founder of Cardiovascular Care Providers, Inc. and Global Healthcare Alliance, Inc.
John W. Adams, Jr.President and CEO
Under Mr. Adams’ leadership, Global has grown from a modest service organization more than 20 years ago to an industry leader in value based reimbursement and revenue cycle management services today. Mr. Adams’ vision for the company’s future emphasizes technology innovation matched with a strong commitment to service quality. Mr. Adams also serves as President and CEO of Global Healthcare Alliance Holdings and its affiliates including CardioVascular Care Providers, Inc.

Current Board

Douglas Y. Bech has been a Director of the Company since 1997.  Mr. Bech is Chief Executive Officer and owner of Raintree Resorts International, which he founded in 1997.  He also serves on the boards of HollyFrontier Corporation, an independent refining company listed on the NYSE, of which he is presiding independent director and Chair of its Compensation Committee and a member of its Executive and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees; j2 Global, a cloud services and digital media company listed on the NASDAQ, of which he is Chair of both the Compensation Committee and the Governance Committee; CIM Commercial Trust Corporation, a commercial office REIT listed on NASDAQ, of which he serves on the Audit Committee; and three other private companies.  Mr. Bech also serves as a director of the American Resort Development Association.  Prior to Mr. Bech’s business career, he was a longtime partner at AndrewsKurth in Houston, with a focus on corporate finance and securities practice, and was named one of America’s Best Lawyers.  Mr. Bech is a graduate of Baylor University in 1967, and a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law in 1970 and a member of the Texas and New York bars.

Michael Duncan, M.D. has been a Director of the Company since 1997. Dr. Duncan is a surgeon with more than 35 years of experience. He holds numerous faculty appointments including Associate Surgeon, Texas Heart Institute, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and Director, Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at Texas Heart Institute.  Dr. Duncan has served on the Board of Directors for CVCP since 1993.
Patrick J. Hogan, M.D. has been a Director of the Company since 1997.  Dr. Hogan is a cardiologist with more than 25 years experience in Houston.  Dr. Hogan holds several teaching appointments including Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine for Baylor College of Medicine and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.  Dr. Hogan has hospital staff appointments at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, The Texas Heart Institute, Herman Hospital and The Methodist Hospital.  Dr. Hogan has served on the Board of Directors for CVCP since 1994.
Richard Leachman, M.D. has been a Director of the Company since 1997. Dr. Leachman is a cardiologist with more than 30 years of experience. Dr. Leachman holds appointments at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Texas Heart Institute and Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Houston.  Dr. Leachman is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Diplomat of the American Board of Cardiology.  Dr. Leachman has also served as the Medical Director for the Catheterization Laboratory at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.  Dr. Leachman has served on the Board of Directors for CVCP since 1993.
Ivo Nelson has been a Director of the Company since 2015. Mr. Nelson is the Chairman and CEO of Next Wave Health, an investment firm that works with start-ups and early stage companies. He began his career in healthcare at Perot Systems and was an early proponent of clinical transformation. The idea that healthcare systems could use technology to improve patient care and outcomes led Mr. Nelson to form Healthlink Corporation in 1992. Healthlink grew to be the largest privately held, provider-focused, healthcare technology consulting firm in the world when IBM acquired it in 2005. In 2009, Mr. Nelson co-founded Encore Health Resources to assist healthcare organizations in mining the business intelligence accrued after decades of process and technology improvements. Since it’s founding, Encore was one of the fastest-growing health IT services companies in the industry, and it was named one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare five years in a row. Encore was acquired by Quintiles in 2014. He was named to the HIMSS “50 in 50” list, recognizing the top 50 contributors to the healthcare IT industry in the past 50 years. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from CHIME, the HIMSS Leadership Award, and the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Mr. Nelson is a strategic advisor to several healthcare technology companies. He served on the boards of Encore Health Resources, HealthPost, Health Care DataWorks and MedSynergies.
Thomas R. Powers has been a Director of the Company since 1997.  Mr. Powers is a founding principal of Raintree Capital Company, L.L.C., a merchant banking concern where he has been engaged since 1994. He currently serves as a Trustee for Baylor College of Medicine.  In addition he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, where he also serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee. He served as Chairman, President and CEO of Transamerica Fund Management Company and its predecessor companies (“TFM”) from 1976 to 1993.  TFM was the investment advisor and underwriter for a complex of 21 mutual funds.  In 1995, he completed a three-year term as a member of the Board of Governors of the National Association of Securities Dealers where he also served on the Executive Committee as well as Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Investment Companies Committee.  For almost 20 years he served on the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute, the national association of mutual funds.  During that time, he served on the Executive Committee and was elected Chairman in 1989-1990.  He is a former member and past Chairman of the Board of Regents of Baylor University.  He is a former Trustee and member of the Finance Committee for the Memorial Healthcare System of Houston, Texas.  He is a member and past President of the Houston Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute as well as a member of the Texas Society of C.P.A.’s and the American Institute of C.P.A.’s.
Dan S. Wilford has been a Director of the Company since 2013. He is past president of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System and its nine subsidiary corporations. He served as President and CEO of Memorial Hermann from 1984-2002.  Prior to Memorial Herman, he was associated with Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was president of North Mississippi Health Services in Tupelo, Mississippi from 1974 to 1984.  Mr. Wilford has served on the board of directors of many professional organizations.  He was a founder and was active in Voluntary Hospitals of America (board chairman), VHA Texas (chairman), Texas Hospital Association (board member), American Hospital Association, Hospital Research and Development Institute (board member), American College of Healthcare Executives (Fellow and Regent, four terms), Greater Houston Partnership (board member), United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast (board member), and First United Methodist Church of Sugar Land (administrative board).  In 1995, he was inducted into the University of Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame, was the recipient of the Washington University Health Administration Program Distinguished Alumnus Award, received an honorary Doctorate of Laws degree from Houston Baptist University, and was named Business Leader of the Year in Fort Bend County, Texas.  In March 1977, he received the American College of Healthcare Executive’s Gold Medal Award.  In June 1997, he was presented with the Texas Hospital Association’s Earl C. Collier Award.  In 2003, he received the Award of Honor from the American Hospital Association.  Mr. Wilford retired as an official with the National Football League. He continues to be active serving on the board of directors of the John S. Dunn Research Foundation, corporate member of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, and is a past director of Infirmary Healthcare System, Mobile, Alabama (13 years) and St. Joseph Health Systems of Orange, California (6 years). He serves on the board of directors of two public companies:  Healthcare Realty Trust and LHC Group.  He is on the advisory board of three health related private companies.  He is on the Audit Committee of M.D. Anderson Medical Center and serves on the board of numerous not for profit organizations.

Our Executive Leadership

James (Jamie) DyeChief Development Officer
Mr. Dye joined Global in 2016 to lead the organization’s sales, business development and industry relations initiatives. Prior to joining Global, Mr. Dye was chief development officer of MedSynergies, a for-profit ambulatory services company focused on improving physician enterprise performance. Mr. Dye’s leadership resulted in the company’s strategic acquisition in 2014. Mr. Dye’s prior experience also includes a 20-year tenure with Perot Systems helping to build the organization into a multi-billion dollar market leader in healthcare services.
Chris KarlChief Financial Officer
Mr. Karl joined Global in 1999 as Controller, later becoming Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Karl manages Corporate Finance and Administration as well as Program and Plan Accounting, Audit and Compliance. Mr. Karl participates in the strategic, operational and capital planning for Global’s Board of Directors, and leads the Audit and Compliance functions for Global’s affiliates.
Tobin LassenChief Knowledge Officer
Mr. Lassen, co-founder and Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO), brings a depth of knowledge and experience throughout clinical and financial healthcare administration. Mr. Lassen successfully facilitated Global’s expansion into a national value-based healthcare leader. As CKO, Mr. Lassen directs and oversees the capabilities and readiness of the organization and its clients in analyzing, defining, operating and optimizing value based healthcare programs.
David DickeyChief Information Officer
David Dickey joined Global as Director of Information Technology in 2008, and now serves as Chief Information Officer. As CIO, Mr. Dickey directs Global’s information technology, product development and technology operations teams and provides strategic direction for Global’s portfolio of intellectual property.
Kevin GoertzVP of Operations, RCM
Mr. Goertz joined Global as Director of Implementation and MSO Billing in 2009 and has served as Vice President, Operations and Client Services since 2012. With more than 25 years of revenue cycle management experience in health care, Mr. Goertz manages and leads Global’s day-to-day operating functions as part of the senior management team.
Shannon RileyVP of Operations, VBR
Ms. Riley, VP, VBP Operations, has 20 years experience with Global Healthcare Alliance, where she specializes in workflow and customer centric business services for bundled pricing and value-based reimbursement. Ms. Riley oversees the operations for bundled pricing programs, value-based reimbursement, client services and provider relations. Ms. Riley is a member of the Medical Group Management Association and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
